I went to Chicago this weekend (via my sister Mickey's house in Indiana) for Chris' surprise birthday party. I got into Chicago on Friday afternoon, had lunch and hung out with my friend Erik, had dinner with Shark and Jane (Shark, you made it into the blog!) and then went to the party Friday night. Saturday I had breakfast with Chris and Linda and then headed home.
The party was really fun. I love to surprise people just to see the reaction on their face. Chris was surprised, as was Mike who didn't know I was coming in for the party. While I didn't know a lot of the people, it was great to catch up with friends and laugh about nothing in particular.
As always, I ate and imbibed way too much all weekend, and arrived home last night exhausted. Even though we make it back to Chicago often enough to curb our instinct to pig out on all our favorite Chicago foods, I found it hard to resist once again. I had fish and chips at Globe Pub with Erik on Friday for lunch. I had a chicken sandwich for dinner with Shark and Jane at Southport Saloon. This could've been healthy without the mound of cheese and avocadoes on it and the side of fries. And then at breakfast on Saturday, I had my favorite "Sassy Eggs" at Over Easy. (That would be 2 eggs over potatoes and chorizo sausage, topped with cheese, guacamole, sour cream, and hot sauce. So, so good, and enough food to feed a family of four.) By the way, if you're looking for a good place for breakfast in Chicago, I recommend "Tweet" on Sheridan. It's pretty north (near Foster) but very good. And the service is REALLY friendly and fast.
Last night we went to dinner at Doug and Susan's house, who had some people over. It was a beautiful night like so many we've been lucky to have this summer. And we did a few of my favorite things: we had drinks and munchies and then dinner out by the pool. There was a great breeze coming off the lake, which made it a perfect night. We ended it with a fire.
Have a great week everyone!

Man, I just ate lunch and those Sassy Eggs are making my mouth water...and hey, avocados are healthy, so you don't have to apologize for that!
Glad you have a blog -- I'll get it linked to mine some day! :)
Amy
I know, they do make you crave them, that's for sure. And I thought the same about the avocados!
I need to get your link on here too. Hopefully I can figure that out soon.
I hope your move went well!
